MOTHERHOOD…. the most beautiful, miraculous, and incredibly overwhelming journey there is. Motherhood is a whirlwind of emotions, a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows that takes your breath away and fills your heart to the brim. It's in the sleepless nights and the endless diaper changes, in the moments of doubt and the overwhelming love that washes over you like a tidal wave. From the first cries of a newborn to the bittersweet goodbyes on the first day of school, motherhood is a journey of growth, learning, and unconditional love. The days are long, but the years are short, and before you know it, the tiny hands that once clung to yours are reaching out to explore the world on their own! It's beautiful, difficult, gratifying, exciting, heartbreaking and oh so fast! WAY too fast. As a mother, you know how fast time flies when it comes to your children. It's a paradox of wanting time to stand still and yet yearning for the next chapter, the next milestone. Motherhood is messy, chaotic, and beautifully imperfect, a dance of joy and tears, laughter, and frustration. It's a constant balancing act of nurturing, guiding, and letting go. And as the days blur into years, one thing remains constant – the profound and unbreakable bond between a mother and her child, a connection that transcends time and space. So, embrace the ups and downs, cherish the fleeting moments, and hold onto the memories, for in the blink of an eye, the baby you cradled in your arms is now a grown-up ready to take on the world.
Through all of this, one thing I know is that us moms ARE NOT in the frame enough with our children. Let's change that! Let's celebrate the moms and get you in the frame with your babies…no matter their age! Whether you are in the thick of the toddler chaos or sending your baby off to college…let's document your bond with them…for just 15 minutes…so you can relive these moments in the years to come. As moms, we want to be there for our kids. Always. But as much as we want to, and as much as we don’t want to think of our babies growing up and leaving the nest, they do grow up…so fast! Before you know it, they’ll be off to college and then creating families of their own. As their lives grow and change, they’ll want pictures from their childhood. Pictures of their parents and siblings. Pictures of themselves with the person who has always loved them the most–their mom.
Mommy and Me Portraiture
As much as you try to capture each moment with your camera or phone, sometimes it’s nice to have professional portraits taken to truly capture those precious memories. That’s where mommy and me photography sessions come in. These sessions are designed to capture the bond between mother and child, creating images that will be treasured for a lifetime. Some of my absolute favorite moments during a family session are when I get the kids & their mommas alone for a few shots. There is no denying the beautiful bond that unfolds in just a couple of minutes together.
Mommy and Me minis are the best way to capture that beautiful bond! These are my favorite dedicated mini sessions that I hold every single year. I know just how important it is to document those milestones with your children, with you and your children together! There is nothing more precious than a mother’s love! I know as women; we are our worst critics and sometimes it is so challenging to get in front of the camera. Book the session. No more excuses! Hating the way you look is not an excuse. "I want to lose 10 pounds first" I hear this a lot. This is not a good excuse to not get mommy and me photos. Do it for your children, see yourself through your child’s eyes because to them they see the most beautiful and loving soul, you are their favorite person in the whole wide world. You are! Every time we see a photo of ourselves and find it awful, we think we are ugly or fat, but it actually comes down to the lighting, posing and even your facial expression. All of these things come together when you allow a professional to do this for you. As a professional Northeast Nebraska photographer, I am going to pose you in flattering positions. Stop worrying about how you look. You are important. You are. You deserve beautiful professional portraits of you and your children. Moms often put themselves last usually in every department of the household. You deserve more. You are not only a special part of the family, but chances are also you are the most instrumental person in the family. Seriously. Book the session, you will be so happy you did! My goal for myself is to get in the frame much more with my own children! No more excuses from me. I want my kids to remember that I was there. I want them to look back at pictures and see that bond we shared. This is why getting in the frame with your kids is so important…not necessarily for the right now but for the future moments.
How Does a Pearl Moments Mommy and Me Mini Work?
My annual Mommy and Me Minis are scheduled for April 18th and 19th, they are 15-minute sessions, and you will receive 20 digital images. First, we’ll chat about details. I will contact you a few days ahead of the day and let you know the location; I always choose a beautiful outdoor scenic area in the Columbus area. We’ll talk about how you hope to use your images so we can get the perfect photos for albums, framed photos, or canvas prints. If you’ve never done a photoshoot with Pearl Moments before, you may be a little nervous, but there’s absolutely no reason to be. I’ll help you and your little ones to feel relaxed and natural and assist with any posing. Mostly though, a mommy and me photography session is just a time for you to play and cuddle and laugh together. I’ll be there to capture all the precious moments! After your session, I will send you your downloadable gallery. This is when you’ll finally see the finished images of you and your babies together so you can decide which ones to keep, and whether you want a keepsake album, wall art, or both. A little word of advice; have the tissues nearby! You’ll be able to download the portraits with a copyright release agreement or order your prints, canvas, and albums straight through your personalized gallery! The choice is yours!
Some Tips for a Great Experience:
So, if you’re a Momma thinking of scheduling a photography session with your little ones or a partner purchasing an Early Mother’s Day gift (*hint hint*), here are some tips to make it a fun and stress-free experience:
Dress like yourself. Wear something you feel awesome and beautiful in. Ensure it’s an outfit you’ve worn before, and you know it’s comfortable. Avoid big patterns, logos, or bright colors. Aim for earthy tones, natural fabrics, and clothing with lots of movement.
Have zero expectations. Embrace what comes, the wind, the rain, the laughter, the chaos — whatever unfolds. Every shoot is unique, and we have no set pattern. It’s all about YOU and capturing your life exactly how it is on the day of your shoot. I can’t give you any guarantees of what we will snap; let’s see what magic happens on the day.
Be patient. Kids can be unpredictable, so try to be flexible and don’t worry too much if they’re not cooperating or smiling for the camera. The best moments are often captured when they’re simply being themselves. The objective isn’t just to take pretty pictures but to capture this exciting stage in your life, exactly as it is now.
Come prepared. Make sure that your little one(s) have rested and have adequate snacks and water. It’s okay to take breaks if they need to.
Connect on the day. Relax, unwind, and choose to do what you love on the day of your shoot. There’s nothing worse than arriving at a session frazzled, rushed, and disconnected. Give yourself lots of time to get to the location so you don’t feel stressed on arrival.
Get involved! You’re an important part of the session as a mom, and I bet you are often behind the camera, rather than in front of it. So don’t be afraid to interact with your kids and have some fun! Those moments of love and connection are what we’re aiming to capture, after all.
Taking creative portraits of moms and their children is such a special way to celebrate that unbreakable bond. With a positive attitude and a bit of planning, it can be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. And those photographs? They’ll be a cherished reminder of your family’s love for generations to come. And guys…. These motherhood sessions have no age limit in case you were thinking that your child is too old! If you are a mom with an adult son or daughter, please invite the idea of capturing this special time. I feel sometimes when we have children of our own, we lose that focus of that bond we have with our own moms, it seems to get overlooked and this year I want to change that. Our moms are always our favorite people, our best friends, who are our biggest supporters of all things and will always be there for us no matter what, who love us unconditionally until the end! Let’s get that documented! That bond will never go away.
This Mother’s Day, capture the pure joy and love between mother and child. Join me for my annual Mommy and Me’s on April 18th or 19th! Reserve your session today, by simply clicking the link below!
With Love,
~Tanisha
